“Everything Is Illuminated” director leads key episode of his Showtime drama

“Ray Donovan” star Liev Schreiber makes his television directing debut with Sunday’s episode of the series about a head-cracking Hollywood fixer.

The actor also directed the 2005 feature “Everything Is Illuminated.” Sunday’s episode, titled “Walk this Way,” finds the  Donovan family coming together for the first in the second season to celebrate Conor’s birthday. As tensions mount, Ray reacts as he never has before.

The series follows Schreiber’s Ray as he tries to clean up Hollywood’s messes while avoiding those created by his own father (Jon Voight, pictured above with Schreiber). The title of Sunday’s episode seems like a reference to the Donovan family’s Boston roots, which they share with Aerosmith.

The episode airs Sunday at 9/8c on Showtime.
