Lifetime’s new drama "Witches of East End" will premiere Sunday, Oct. 6, the network announced.

The series stars Emmy Award-winner Julia Ormond, Mädchen Amick, Jenna Dewan Tatum and Rachel Boston as a family of witches living in the secluded seaside town of East Haven. Eric Winter, Daniel DiTomasso), Jason George and Virginia Madsen also star.

And about that name…

executive producer Maggie Friedman was asked about the similarity of the show's name to that of "The Witches of Eastwick," the John Updike novel that inspired a movie and three TV pilots, one of which became a short-lived series.

It turns out it's not the Lifetime show's fault. It's based on a 2011 novel by Melissa de la Cruz, and the show opted not to change the title.

"It's very different from 'Eastwick,' and it has a loyal fan base of people who love it on its own," Friedman said.
