Geillis is a beautiful, dark presence in Ronald D. Moore’s Starz series

“The Borgias” star Lotte Verbeek will play Geillis Duncan in the Starz original series “Outlander” from “Battlestar Galactica” mastermind Ronald D. Moore.

The series, adapted from Diana Gabaldon’s international best-selling books, is currently filming on location in Scotland and is set to premiere next year.

The “Outlander” series combines romance, science fiction, history, and adventure as it follows Claire Randall, a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743. She is forced to marry Jamie Fraser, a chivalrous and romantic Scottish warrior, and her passions are torn between two very different men in different times.

Geillis Duncan, wife of the procurator fiscal, is commonly referred to as a witch because of her knowledge of herbs and plants. Starz describes her as “a beautiful, dark presence in the village outside Castle Leoch.”
