Did You Catch the Sweet Oscars Moment Between Mahershala Ali and Jeff Bridges? (Video)

Ali had a gracious exchange with Bridges, moments after beating him for Best Supporting Actor

Mahershala Ali shared a blink-and-you-missed it moment with Jeff Bridges in the moments after he beat him in the Best Supporting Actor category at the actors.

Bridges, who played  a grizzled Texas ranger in “Hell of High Water,” won a Best Actor award for “Crazy Heart” in 2009. This was the first nomination for Ali, who played drug dealer and father figure Juan in “Moonlight.”

As Ali passed Bridges on his way onstage to accept the award, Bridges reached out and patted him on the arm. Ali stopped, turned, and shook hands with the seven-times nominated veteran.

Ali had an amazing year. Besides playing one of the key roles in “Moonlight,” a Best Picture nominee, he also playing a supporting role in Best Picture nominee “Hidden Figures.”

Bridges’ “Hell or High Water” was also up for Best Picture Sunday night.

Rounding out the Best Supporting Actor category were Michael Shannon for playing a Texas sheriff in “Nocturnal Animals,”; Dev Patel for playing a troubled adoptee in “Lion,”; and Lucas Hedges for playing a closed-off teen whose father has just died in “Manchester By the Sea.” “Lion” and “Manchester by the Sea” were also nominated for Best Picture.
