Mariah Carey Disses Reality TV Stars: ‘Some People’s Goal Is to Be Famous’ (Video)

The recent Walk of Fame honoree speaks about reality stars at a recent interview in Israel

Mariah Carey doesn’t seem happy to yield the spotlight to just anyone, particularly reality TV stars.

During a recent interview with Israeli journalist Yarden Ben Aviv, the singer responded to a question about whether fame makes people happy by tossing shade on celebrities with no discernible talent.

“Some people’s goal is to be famous, not to have a craft or an art that they’re famous for,” Carey said. “Today, you can be famous just from being on a reality…well, doing… you don’t really have to do much, but you kinda gotta do a lot. And then your whole life is just about being a celebrity and that’s what some people aspire to, because it’s easy and because then everybody knows them and all they see is the bright side of fame. I couldn’t handle being on a reality show, I couldn’t handle having people with cameras on me all the time. It’s already like that, it’s too much.”

Although Carey won’t be seen in any unscripted TV show anytime soon, fans will be able to see the “Heartbreaker” singer in season 2 of Fox’s hit show, “Empire.”

The pop diva received the 2,556th star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame on Aug. 5. She has had 18 No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and winning five Grammy Awards and 20 American Music Awards.
