Depp was unfairly “crucified” by the public during his thorny divorce from actress Amber Heard, Manson said in a recent interview with The Daily Beast.
“Johnny is one of the nicest people that I know — to the extent where it’s almost heartbreaking how kind he is to his friends, and everyone around him,” Manson said. “I know that he was completely crucified — unjustly.”
“I would stand by him on anything,” Manson continued. “As my friend, I know that he’s handling it the best he can and he’s a great Dad, too … Of course I think that all of it was bullshit, and I think that he is a great person. I wouldn’t agree with any of it if someone were to put me on the stand and ask me what I know, or what I’ve witnessed.”
Heard, who had been married to Depp for little more than a year, filed for divorce from the actor in May and days later filed for a restraining order, claiming that the actor had been abusive to her throughout their relationship.
The couple settled their divorce last month, a day before a hearing was to be held on the matter. Heard later said she’d donate her entire $7 million settlement to charity.

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's marriage came crashing down after just over a year, when Heard filed for divorce on May 23. Days later, she sought a restraining order, which a judge soon granted, using the following photos as evidence.
In a declaration provided to the court, Heard said that Depp "grabbed the cell phone, wound up his arm like a baseball pitcher and threw the cell phone at me striking my cheek and eye with great force."
Heard's declaration also stated, "Johnny continued screaming at me, pulling my hair, striking me and violently grabbing my face."
"During the entirety of our relationship, Johnny has been verbally and physically abusive to me," Heard claimed.
Heard's declaration states that, during the alleged May 21 incident, Depp "picked up the magnum size bottle of wine he had been drinking out of, and he started swinging it around, smashing everything he could."
"Suddenly, he began obsessing about something that was untrue and his demeanor changed dramatically," Heard said of the events of May 21. "He became extremely angry."
Heard claims that Depp showed up at their home at approximately 7:15 p.m. on May 21 "inebriated and high."
“Amber is attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse,” a memorandum of points and authorities filed by Depp’s lawyer, Laura Wasser, read on Friday.
