Mario Lopez to Host CBS ‘Candy Crush’ Game Show

Hour-long game show premieres July 9

Mario Lopez is set to host the live-action CBS game show “Candy Crush,” the presenter announced on Thursday.

The hour-long game show based on the hit mobile game will premiere on July 9.

The show will see teams of two people use their wits and physical agility to compete on enormous, interactive game boards. They will use their entire bodies to swing, slide and swipe to make matches in order to conquer Candy Crush and be crowned the champions.

“Mario Lopez is a perfect fit to host ‘Candy Crush.’ As a big fan of the game and a competitor by nature, his larger-than-life enthusiasm matches the size and scope of our show,” said executive producer Matt Kunitz in a statement.

“As a player, I am excited to step into the real life Candy Crush Arena,” added Lopez.

The show is by Pulse Creative in association with Lionsgate Television, King.com Ltd. and CBS Television Studios. Matt Kunitz, Peter Levin, Russell Binder, John Quinn, Nicki Sheard, VP Brand at King, and Sebastian Knutsson, King’s Chief Creative Officer and Candy Crush Saga creator, will executive produce.
