Mark Wahlberg was just kidding when he said he would reunite with his old hip-hop crew, the Funky Bunch, for a once-in-a-lifetime benefit to help the city of Boston, a person close to the actor tells TheWrap.
We know: Who wouldn't want to see the "Pain & Gain" star again embrace the Marky Mark name for the sake of helping his hometown? But it isn't happening, the source says.
Wahlberg replied with a deadpan "why not" when asked by TMZ this week if he would rejoin his old group for a charity benefit in response to the Boston Marathon bombings.
Word of a possible reunion quickly spread across the internet, and — to paraphrase the group's "Good Vibrations" — sweat started coming out the pores of longtime fans.
But it's not happening. Sorry.
