Hulu has shared the first trailer for “Runaways” ahead of the Marvel drama’s second season next month.
Set to debut on Friday, Dec. 21, “Runaways” will dive deeper into the beloved Marvel Comics series now that the central band of teen superheroes have been forced into hiding, left with only each other to rely on as they try to put a stop their parents’ evildoings.
“This year is much more the cat-and-mouse [game] and the two sides going to war,” executive producer Stephanie Savage told Entertainment Weekly about the new season.
The trailer also introduces the new character of Topher (Jan Luis Castellanos), who in the comics is a vampire the group first encounters in the abandoned hostel that becomes their new hideout. “He’s not all that he appears to be,” executive producer Josh Schwartz warned EW.
“Runaways” also stars Rhenzy Feliz, Lyrica Okano, Virginia Gardner, Ariela Barer, Gregg Sulkin, Allegra Acosta, Annie Wersching, Ryan Sands, Angel Parker, Ever Carradine, James Marsters, Kevin Weisman, Brigid Brannagh, James Yaegashi, Brittany Ishibashi, Kip Pardue and Julian McMahon.
“Gossip Girl” and “The O.C.” duo Schwartz and Savage serve as showrunners and executive producers along with Marvel Television boss Jeph Loeb. Fake Empire’s Lis Rowinski serves as producer on the ABC Signature Studios co-production.
