Emily Compagno is moving from “Outnumbered” to “The Five,” joining Fox News’ top-rated panel show as a full-time co-host beginning Sept. 8, the network announced on Monday.
Compagno will join Greg Gutfeld, Dana Perino and Jesse Watters at the table, while Jessica Tarlov and Harold Ford Jr. will continue rotating in the show’s liberal seat.
“Fifteen years later, ‘The Five’ remains a powerhouse and appointment viewing for millions of Americans,” Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott said in a statement. “Emily is a highly accomplished host whose energy and talent have made her a standout across Fox News Media.”
“I couldn’t be more honored to join ‘The Five,’ a team I have long admired and have been fortunate to work alongside over the years,” Compagno added. “Having an official seat at the table on what I truly believe is the most fun show on television is an incredible privilege.”
Compagno joined Fox News as a contributor in 2018 and has co-hosted “Outnumbered” since 2021. She is also the author of “Under His Wings,” published by Fox News Books, which debuted at No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list.
The move places Compagno on a program that has emerged as one of the most-watched shows on cable despite airing at 5 p.m. ET, outside traditional primetime. “The Five” averaged 3.6 million total viewers and 322,000 viewers in the key 25-54 demographic during the second quarter, according to Nielsen data provided by Fox News.
Launched in July 2011, “The Five” features an ensemble panel discussing the day’s political news and cultural stories. The program, which marked its 15th anniversary last month, has ranked as cable news’ most-watched show for 19 consecutive quarters.
“The Five” has served as a springboard of sorts for multiple show panelists. Gutfeld and Watters also host their own Fox News primetime programs, while Perino co-anchors the network’s morning news show “America’s Newsroom.”
Compagno’s “Outnumbered” departure, meanwhile, leaves a vacancy alongside Harris Faulkner and Kayleigh McEnany. Fox News said rotating network personalities will fill that seat until a permanent co-host is selected.
