Melissa Grego has been named CEO of HRTS, replacing outdoing executive director Dave Ferrara, the organization announced on Monday.
The replaces Dave Ferrara, who led the organization previously known as previously known as Hollywood Radio and Television Society for 18 years.
The newly created position makes Grego the first woman to lead the television and media industry networking forum. She begins in her new role on October 30.
Grego previously served as editor-in-chief of Broadcasting & Cable, and ran the consulting practice Melinc, which specializes in conferences, editorial content strategy and individual advisory work.
“In my experience covering and working in this space, I have been fortunate to develop a broad view of the business and great insight into the challenges of thriving in TV and media. It is an honor and privilege to apply this perspective to HRTS,” Grego said in a statement.
Eric Schrier, HRTS president and president of original programming at FX, added, “With Melissa’s background as a journalist and successful entrepreneur, she has a comprehensive understanding of the current television and media business.”
