‘Meredith’ Earns Big Improvements in Time Slot

Meredith Vieira’s new talk show is up 41 percent

Meredith Viera’s new talk show improved on the shows it replaced in its time slots by 41 percent, according to early Nielsen numbers.

The show premiered Monday to a 1.7 rating/4 share metered market average. It scored the second-best improvement for a new talk show host premiere in nine years, after Steve Harvey, who debuted in 2012 to 50 percent improvement.

“Meredith” won its time period in five top 20 markets: Detroit, Phoenix, Minneapolis, Miami and Sacramento.

Among women 25 to 54, “Meredith” opened with a 0.6/4 demo average, even with its September 2013 time periods. It was up 400 percent year-to-year in Los Angeles.
