Meredith Viera’s new talk show improved on the shows it replaced in its time slots by 41 percent, according to early Nielsen numbers.
The show premiered Monday to a 1.7 rating/4 share metered market average. It scored the second-best improvement for a new talk show host premiere in nine years, after Steve Harvey, who debuted in 2012 to 50 percent improvement.
“Meredith” won its time period in five top 20 markets: Detroit, Phoenix, Minneapolis, Miami and Sacramento.
Among women 25 to 54, “Meredith” opened with a 0.6/4 demo average, even with its September 2013 time periods. It was up 400 percent year-to-year in Los Angeles.
