Michael Keaton Shrugs Off ‘Hidden Fences’ Snafu: ‘I’m Gonna Sleep Pretty Well’ (Video)

“Birdman” star was apologetic until he heard mistake went viral

Michael Keaton should be waking up from a pretty solid slumber any minute now.

While giving out the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture last night at the 2017 Golden Globes, the “Birdman” star screwed up “Hidden Figures” and “Fences” films, accidentally referred to the film as “Hidden Fences”… and the internet hasn’t let him hear the end of it since.

For his part, Keaton seemed to feel fairly bad about the flub — that is, until he heard it’s gone viral.

“I’m sorry, I apologize. I screwed it up,” he told a TMZ cameraman late on Sunday. “Are they making a big deal?”

Yes, Michael they are.

“I’m a horrible person,” Keaton sarcastically told the paparazzi. He then switched back to sincere: “I dunno, I’m gonna sleep pretty well.”

Keaton wasn’t the only person last night to mash up the two movies with primarily African-American casts and themes. Red carpet reporter Jenna Bush made exactly the same “Hidden Fences” goof while interviewing Pharrell Williams earlier in the night.

The movie “Hidden Figures” is based on a true story and stars Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae. The actresses play three black mathematicians who were instrumental in the early days of NASA and the U.S. space program.

Another real film, “Fences” stars Denzel Washington and Viola Davis as a black couple in the 1950s trying to raise their son and coming to terms with trauma from their past.
