Michelle Obama tweeted her praise for Marvel’s “Black Panther” on Monday, hailing Ryan Coogler’s superhero blockbuster as a landmark moment for on-screen representation.

“Congrats to the entire #blackpanther team!” the former first lady wrote. “Because of you, young people will finally see superheroes that look like them on the big screen. I loved this movie and I know it will inspire people of all backgrounds to dig deep and find the courage to be heroes of their own stories.”

Obama’s tweet comes as “Black Panther” continues to shatter records at the box office, on pace for a historic opening weekend. Earning more than $200 million in its first three days, the movie is expected to earn upwards of $235 million over the President’s Day weekend.

The movie’s success at the box office is due at least in part to strong word of mouth, with a 97 percent “fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes and the coveted “A+” CinemaScore rating from opening-weekend audiences.
