Michelle Obama Visiting ‘Late Show’ — Will Letterman Have to Eat His Veggies, Too?

First lady will promote military families campaign

First Lady Michelle Obama will make her first visit to "The Late Show With David Letterman" next Monday, to discuss her Joining Forces iniative to support military families.

The appearance follows one on the "Tonight Show" at the end of January in which host Jay Leno confessed that he hadn't eaten an apple since 1984. The first lady, who has used her position to encourage healthy eating, handed him one. She also encouraged him to try other fruits and vegetables.

Letterman may not be forced to eat any healthy foods. Michelle Obama will turn up on his show to talk about the one-year anniversary of Joining Forces, which she started with Dr. Jill Biden.  It aims to educate, challenge and spark all Americans to support military families.

Esperanza Spalding, who won a 2011 Grammy for best new artist, will also appear on next Monday's "Late Show."
