‘FDR: American Badass!’ Trailer Will Give Historians Nightmares

Barry Bostwick portrays our nation's 32nd president as a werewolf-battling brawler in the upcoming "FDR: American Badass!"

In what seems to be a new cinematic trend of recasting former American presidents as twisted action heroes (we’re looking at you, “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”), the upcoming film “FDR: American Badass!” imagines our nation’s 32nd chief executive as a werewolf-battling brawler with a super-charged, bullet-spitting wheelchair.

The film, directed by Garrett Brawith and written by Ross Patterson, stars Barry Bostwick as FDR and, while it might not be the most historically accurate portrayal of FDR ever presented, it is one of the more amusing portrayals. At the very least, it’s bizarre.

Oddly, “FDR: American Badass!” isn’t the only film about Roosevelt that will hit the big screen this year: “Hyde Park on Hudson,” which stars Bill Murray as the former president, arrives in theaters on — yes, that’s right — Dec. 7.

“FDR: American Badass!” rolls into theaters Sept. 24. Until then, check out the trailer.
