MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell Asks Anthony Weiner: ‘What Is Wrong With You?’ (Video)

Scandal-plagued NYC mayoral candidate fires back: Nobody watches your show

“The Last Word” host Lawrence O’Donnell got into a heated exchange with Anthony Weiner on his show Monday night when he opened the interview by asking the mayoral candidate: “What is wrong with you?”

Weiner, who was giving O’Donnell his last interview before polls open on Tuesday, fired back by telling O’Donnell to “chillax, buddy” before, at the end of the six-minute-long exchange, snapping “nobody watches [your] show.”

O’Donnell’s question was not about Weiner’s predilection for taking photos of his penis and sending them to young women, but about Weiner’s pursuit of public office that, O’Donnell says, has made up nearly all of Weiner’s adult life.

“Anthony, it does not seem to be a fully healthy pursuit,” he said. “If you take in the totality of your life, Anthony, do you think you’ve spent your time well?”

Weiner said he thought public service was a noble pursuit. He wasn’t such a fan of O’Donnell’s pursuit of him, however. “Lawrence, chillax, buddy. Just dial it down a second,” he said. “Dude, I don’t really need your psychiatric questions … Do an interview.”

“You are being driven by some kind of demons,” O’Donnell replied. Then, noticing that the segment was nearly out of time, he invited Weiner to continue the discussion online.

“Online? Get harangued online? Nobody watches the show, who do you think’s online?” Weiner replied.

For the record, O’Donnell said he had no problem with Weiner’s crotch shots, calling them “perfectly standard American photography that is floating around the internet right now.”
