MTV Sets Debuts for Workplace Reality Shows ‘Big Tips Texas’ & ‘Scrubbing In’

The new series focusing on bartenders and nurses, respectively, will debut in October

MTV's "Big Tips Texas"

Appropriately, MTV waited until after Labor Day to announce the premiere dates for two new workplace reality series.

“Big Tips Texas,” which follows a group of friends working at a Dallas bar, premieres with back-to-back episodes starting Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 10/9c. And “Scrubbing in,” which follows the travails of nine nurses relocated to an Orange County, Calif. hospital, premieres Thursday, Oct. 24 at 10/9c.

MTV is beefing up both its unscripted and scripted slates. In August, it announced the pickup of four new reality series: “Untitled Virgins Project,” “MTV’s House of Food,” “SNACKDOWN” and “The Ex and the Why.”

The eclectic group of women includes four veterans and six new girls. Sabrina, a gifted student working to save money to go back to college and eventually Harvard Law School; Amber the girl who knows her way around the bar but comes at odds with the other staff; Typhani, the boss; and Claire, the bar’s top bartender, are amongst those who have earned their stripes. The newbies include Kristyn, an ambitious waitress who has dreams of climbing the establishment’s corporate ladder and starting her own clothing line; Morgan, a rodeo princess; Mimi, one of the new girls who ruffles a few feathers; Jillian, the Chicago transplant; Macy, the biggest little Texan of them all; and Mercedez, known as the sassy southern server.

“Scrubbing In,” follows a group of travel nurses assigned to work at an Orange County, CA hospital for 12 weeks. Relocating from across the country, these nurses have left their hometowns and lives behind for short-term contracts at an understaffed hospital, with the added benefit of exploring a new city. For Tyrice, Chris, Fernando and Adrian, this isn’t their first tour and they’re considered experts of the program. For first-timers Chelsey, Michelle, Crystal, Nikki and Heather, this is a new journey they’re embarking on together, looking for a change from their nursing jobs in Pittsburgh, PA.

“Scrubbing In” is Executive Produced by Mark Cronin and Joel Rodgers from Never Nominated. The series is Executive Produced by Shannon Fitzgerald and David Osper for MTV. Janay Dutton and Nick Predescu are the Executives in Charge of Production for the series.
