‘The Challenge’: Jemmye Explains Why She Returns to Show After Ex Ryan Knight’s Death (Exclusive Video)

“It’s like going back into a world that was always our world,” she says on MTV series

“The Challenge XXX” star Jemmye Carroll is opening up about her return to the MTV competition show following ex-boyfriend Ryan Knight’s death at age 29 from an accidental overdose in November 2014.

An exclusive sneak peek from Tuesday’s episode shows Carroll telling Cory Wharton that she has mixed emotions about returning to the fray. She met Knight on “The Real World: New Orleans,” which aired in 2010, and they dated after filming ended, although they had split up prior to his passing.

“Just after Knight died, I didn’t feel right coming back, you know?” Carroll says in the clip about her ex, who co-starred with her on “The Challenge: Battle of the Exes II” that aired after his death. “It finally feels right now, though.”

“I decided to take a few Challenges off after he passed away, so it was scary going into a Challenge house without him,” she adds to the camera. “It’s like going back into a world that was always our world.”

“The Challenge” airs on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on MTV.
