Filmmaker and actor Vas Saranga will lend a helping hand on FX’s “The Strain,” TheWrap has learned.
Saranga will play Hassan, a gas station night clerk who helps the central characters out of a difficult situation.
Canadian viewers will recognize Saranga from his role as up-and-coming rock star, Reese, on Teletoon’s live-action animation hybrid, “MudPit.” He also starred on Disney XD’s first original series, “Aaron Stone,” as Vas and recurred on Cartoon Network’s “Unnatural History.”

His film credits include “American Pie Presents: Beta House,” and the independent films “You Are Here” and “Bloodwork.” In addition to directing numerous short films, Saranga has directed multiple episodes of cooking show “Dave’s Cook’d Kitchen.” He’s currently writing the script for his first feature comedy.
From “Lost” producer Carlton Cuse, “The Strain” follows Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll) and his team at the CDC Canary Project out of NYC when a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism threatens the city. Mia Maestro, Sean Astin, Kevin Durand, Natalie Brown, Jonathan Hyde, Richard Sammel, Robert Maillet, Jack Kesy, Ben Hyland and Miguel Gomez also star.
FX just renewed “The Strain” for a sophomore season on Tuesday. Its first season is currently airing on Sundays at 10/9c.
