NBC has “Saturday Night Live: Weekend Update” for a four-episode primetime run, the network announced on Monday.

Michael Che and Colin Jost will host the half-hour series, which promises appearances by additional “SNL” cast members.

“‘SNL’ is having its best season in a quarter of a century — how many shows can say that?! — so we didn’t want them to take the summer off,” said Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment. “We’re thrilled to have Colin Jost and Michael Che continuing their unique brand of news with fresh ‘Weekend Update’ shows in primetime this August.”

The announcement comes amid heightened attention on “Saturday Night Live” following last year’s election. So far this season, “SNL” is averaging a 3.57 rating among adults 18-49 and 11.022 million viewers with seven days of delayed viewing.

“Weekend Update” previously aired six primetime episodes around the 2008 presidential election. At the time, Seth Meyers and Amy Poehler hosted the satirical news show.
