Mitch Metcalf, NBC's top scheduling executive, is leaving the network.
The decision is mutual, a network insider tells TheWrap. It comes as new NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt looks to assemble his own team and reinvigorate the network.
Metcalf is widely liked, the insider said, and the move is just part of the typical shakeups that accompany new management and a new vision.
Metcalf, the network's executive vice president of program planning and scheduling since 2005, was responsible for coordinating the network's entire slate. He joined NBC in 1999 as senior vice president of programming.
He had worked previously in research at ABC.
Greenblatt, the much-respected former entertainment president of Showtime, joined NBC in the management shakeup that accompanied Comcast's acquisition of NBC-Universal. The network is trying to emerge from fourth place.
