NBC Spins Off ‘Access Hollywood’: Live Daily Talk Show

Focus will be on celebrity news and gossip, along with “female-friendly segments”

NBC is spinning off "Access Hollywood," launching a one-hour celebrity-focused talk show this fall on six of its Peacock-owned stations.

"Access Hollywood Live" will mix entertainment news and gossip with in-studio guests, fashion reports and other "female-friendly segments," as NBC put it in its press release announcing the project. It will air live from Los Angeles and will be produced by Rob Silverstein, longtime producer of "Access."

The NBC stations in New York, L.A., Chicago, San Francisco, San Diego and Hartford, Conn., have all cleared the show for a September launch.

It’s designed in part to replace Martha Stewart’s daytime show, which is exiting syndication and headed for Hallmark Channel.

NBC will no doubt offer the show to other stations, though exactly when it will begin pitching "Access Hollywood Live" wasn’t immediately clear.

There’s also no word yet on hosts for the project. "Access: Original Recipe" host Billy Bush wasn’t mentioned in the release.
