NBC’s ‘Night Shift’ Preview: Drew and His Soldier Boyfriend Reunite Amid Tragedy (Exclusive Video)

A military homecoming takes a tragic turn on Tuesday’s episode of the NBC medical drama

It’s going to be another eventful evening on Tuesday’s new episode of NBC’s “Night Shift,” but that’s to be expected by now.

The late night ER crew at San Antonio Medical Center will have to treat dozens of soldiers whose bus is involved in a horrible crash. Drew’s (Brendan Fehr) boyfriend Rick (“Brothers and Sisters” star Luke MacFarlane) happens to be one of those soldiers. How will he make sure that his boyfriend recovers without letting more of his colleagues find out he’s gay? He should probably come out already.

Meanwhile, TC (Eoin Macken) and new cardio surgeon Scott (Scott Wolf) continue to battle over who’s in charge and Jordan (Jill Flint) finds herself caught in the middle. And Ragosa’s (Freddy Rodriguez) online dating profile is discovered by the doctors and Kenny (JR Lemon) offers to help add some game to it.

“Night Shift” has become a surprise hit for NBC this summer. At an average 6.9 million viewers, it’s the summer’s most-watched original scripted series on television and the highest rated new scripted series among the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic. It’s currently the most-watched summer show from NBC in 14 years and the highest rated in the ad demo in eight years.
