Netflix CEO Reed Hastings has invited the top executives in the entertainment industry to a one-day discussion about the future of online television.

“We are bringing together some friends from the entertainment and electronics industry to talk about the future of Internet TV. It’s kind of a small version of Google Zeitgeist,” Netflix spokesperson Jonathan Friedland told TheWrap.

The summit will gather the execs at a Utah resort next month with invitations to the event extended to executives like CBS CEO Les Moonves and HBO CEO Richard Plepler, according to Re/code.

Both HBO and CBS have launched standalone paid streaming services, a sign that traditional media companies are finally moving into the territory dominated by Netflix. Starz launched a subscription video service internationally, Starz Play, focusing on emerging markets in Asia and Africa, but Starz has no plans to launch a similar service domestically. More companies seem poised to follow in a similar fashion.
