‘Newsroom’ Writer Says Aaron Sorkin Kicked Her Out of Meeting for Questioning Campus Rape Story

In the writers’ room debating Sunday night’s campus rape plot line, Alena Smith says show creator gave her the boot over storyline disagreement

A writer for “The Newsroom” took to Twitter on Sunday night to reveal she had it out with series creator Aaron Sorkin over the episode’s campus rape story.

In the episode, which coincidentally aired at the same time as the ongoing Rolling Stone rape story controversy continues to play out, “ACN” producer Don Keefer visits Princeton University to interview a student who started a website claiming male students had raped her.

And apparently, in the writers’ room leading up the episode, Sorkin and a writer didn’t see eye to eye. The writer, Alena Smith, claims Sorkin gave her the boot.

HBO has not yet responded to TheWrap‘s request for comment on the writer’s claim.

“The Newsroom’s” series finale airs Dec. 14 on HBO.
