‘Nightflyers’ Teaser: George R. R. Martin Promises Series Will Be ‘Psycho’ in ‘Space’ (Video)

Syfy series lost original showrunner Daniel Cerone on Monday over creative differences

Syfy has released the first teaser trailer for the George R. R. Martin series “Nightflyers,” giving a first look at the eerie space horror.

Based on Martin’s novella, which was adapted previously into a 1987 film of the same name, “Nightflyers” follows eight scientists and a telepath who embark on a quest to make contact with alien life. They board The Nightflyer, a ship bound for the outer edges of the solar system, with a reclusive captain and a tightknit crew. However, terrifying events plan to make the journey more complicated than they once thought.

“‘Nightflyers’ is a haunted house story on a spaceship. It’s ‘Psycho’ in space,” Martin says in the teaser.

Gretchen Mol, Eoin Macken, David Ajala, Sam Strike, Maya Eshet, Angus Sampson, Jodie Turner-Smith and Brían F. O’Byrne star in the series.

On Monday, showrunner Daniel Cerone exited the adaptation due to creative differences, with executive producer and writer Jeff Buhler set to take the reins. “12 Monkeys” showrunner Terry Matalas was also brought in briefly as a consultant.
