(Spoilers ahead for HBO’s reboot of “Perry Mason” through the July 26 episode)
There’s so much that just doesn’t add up — at least not yet! — about the mystery of who killed Charlie Dodson on “Perry Mason.” The HBO series is more about showing us how the characters are responding emotionally to the situation than it is about trying to enthrall you in its central mystery. The mystery is important, yes, but not as important as the character work.
That said, there’s a certain plot thread that hasn’t fit neatly into the narrative just yet in a thematic way: that of Sister Alice (Tatiana Maslany) and her church.
