Peter Sarsgaard Joins Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt in MGM’s ‘Magnificent Seven’ Remake

“The Slap” star now among previously announced Ethan Hawke, Vincent D’Onofrio and Haley Bennett

Peter Sarsgaard has joined the cast of the remake of “The Magnificent Seven,” TheWrap has learned.

From director Antoine Fuqua, the A-list cast also boasts Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D’Onofrio, Wagner Moura, Haley Bennett, Jason Momoa and Matt Bomer.

The upcoming MGM movie is a modern take on the 1960 film “The Magnificent Seven,” which follows seven gunfighters who help defend their homes in an oppressed Mexican village.

Roger Birnbaum will produce the film, based on Akira Kurosawa’s “Seven Samurai.” Sony Pictures will co-finance the project.

The companies are frequent collaborators, teaming on recent James Bond movies like “Skyfall” and the upcoming “Spectre,” as well as “22 Jump Street,” the R-rated comedy sequel that earned more than $320 million globally last year.
