‘Portlandia’ Tailgates, ‘Prairie Home Companion’-Style (Video)

Just like a Super Bowl tailgate, but with yerba mate

A new web series for the IFC show finds Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein dancing to jug bands, listening to NPR, and talking about the time they saw Terry Gross in person. Their characters, Malcolm and Kris, are leading the pre-party as a group of friends eagerly await the arrival of Garrison Keillor.

The four-part “Prairie Home” web series is the first for “Portlandia” to debut online. The online series is part of an advertising campaign with a car company — the kind of marketing gimmick half the characters on “Portlandia” would disapprove of.

“Portlandia” returns for its fourth season on Thursday, Feb. 27.
