A group of about 40 rabbis and Jewish leaders are planning to protest Donald Trump’s speech next week before a leading pro-Israel advocacy group The American Israel Public Affairs Committee, also known as AIPAC, The Washington Post reports.
“Jewish history teaches that when hatred is unleashed, it takes on a life of its own,” organizer Rabbi Jeffrey Salkin told the Post.
The American-Jewish community isn’t too thrilled with Trump these days. Members of the Republican Jewish Coalition, a leading GOP donor group, is expected to meet in order to find a way to deal with the GOP candidate during its annual gathering in Las Vegas, Nevada, next month.
Trump’s rhetoric and his recent “loyalty pledge,” where he asks crowds to vow to vote for him by raising their right hands hasn’t been sitting well with the Jewish community, who feel it’s eerily reminiscent of Adolph Hitler’s Nazi salute.
In February, Trump also promised to remain “neutral” on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.
