Ratings: ‘Scandal’ Season Finale Up as ABC Wins Night

CBS leads in total viewers

An explosive “Scandal” season finale led ABC to an easy win in the key demographic Thursday, as CBS won in total viewers.

Thursday also had several notable series lows, including CBS’s season finale of Robin Williams‘ “The Crazy Ones,” NBC’s “Hollywood Game Night” and a “Parks and Recreation” episode in which Leslie Knope received some huge news. The CW’s “The Vampire Diaries” hit a low and “Reign” tied one.

ABC scored a 2.2 rating/7 share in the key 18-49 demographic, and was second-place in total viewers with 7.3 million. After a rerun at 8, “Grey’s Anatomy” at 9 scored a 2.5/8 and had 8.1 million total viewers. At 10, a packed “Scandal” had a 3.4/10 and 10.5 million total viewers. It was the highest rated and second-most-watched show of the night. Its ratings were up 13 percent from last week and 6 percent from last season’s finale.

CBS and Fox tied for second in the demo, both with a 1.6/5. But CBS won the night in total viewers with 7.4 million, despite running mostly repeats. It back-to-back “Big Bang” repeats at 8, and the second one, at a special time, was Thursday’s most-watched show with 10.8 million viewers. A special airing of “Crazy Ones” at 9 had a 1.6/5 and 6.3 million viewers. At 9:30, the show’s season finale had a 1.3/4 and 5.4 million. An “NCIS” repeat followed.

Fox was third in total viewers with 5.5 million total viewers. At 8, “Hell’s Kitchen” had a 1.7/6 and 4.8 million. At 9, a half-hour “American Idol” had a 1.9/6 and 7.9 million. “Surviving Jack” at 9:30 had a 1.0/3 and 4.3 million.

NBC tied Univision for fourth in the demo with a 1.0/3. NBC was fourth in total viewers with 3.3 million. “Community” at 8 had a 1.0/3 and 2.9 million. “Parks and Rec” at 8:30 had a .9/3 and 2.4 million. “Hollywood Game Night” at 9 also had a .9/3, and had 3.2 million. The “Parenthood” season finale at 10 had a 1.3/4 and 4 million. It was up 18 percent in the demo from last week but down 28 percent from last season’s finale.

Univision was fifth in total viewers with 2.7 million total viewers.

The CW was sixth in ratings and total viewers with a .6/2 and 1.5 million.

Telemundo was seventh in ratings and total viewers with a .4/1 and 990,000.
