Ryan Reynolds and “Strange World” writer-director Qui Nguyen are pairing up to develop a film based on the theme park element “Society of Explorers and Adventurers.”
The untitled project is reported to be a live-action feature that introduces a supernatural element and new characters to the Society of Explorers and Adventurers cannon. According to reports, the film is intended as the first in a new franchise.
Reynolds will produce through his Maximum Effort banner, with Nguyen penning the script.
The project is separate from Ronald D. Moore’s “The Society of Explorers and Adventurers” series, currently in the works at Disney+. Additionally, Moore is executive producing and writing a number of different shows relating to Disney theme park attractions and characters.
Nguyen is writing and co-directing Disney’s upcoming animated feature film “Strange World,” due to premiere at the end of the year.
