‘Scandal’s’ Kate Burton to Reprise Role on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’

The actress jumps back to the other Shonda Rhimes production for its premiere

Kate Burton will reprise her role as Dr. Ellis Grey for the upcoming season 11 premiere of ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” a show representative told TheWrap.

Yes, she’s still dead. Ellis will be back in flashbacks to probably explain the big half-sister twist on the Season 10 finale.

Margaret Pierce (Kelly McCreary), the new head of cardiology was revealed to be the half-sister of Meredith (Ellen Pompeo). Ellis Grey apparently gave her up for adoption without Margaret’s father, Dr. Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr), the new head of residency.

The news of her return follows Burton’s Emmy nomination for guest actress on Shonda Rhimes‘ “Scandal,” in which she plays Vice President Sally Langston.

Burton has also recently appeared on television shows “Veep,” “The Good Wife” and “Grimm.”

Gersh and Principal Entertainment represent Burton.

“Grey’s Anatomy” returns on Thursday, Sept. 25 in its new timeslot at 8/7c.
