Showtime Not on Lockdown After UCLA Shooting (Corrected)

Network clarifies comments made by president during conference call

Updated 2:41 p.m. ET: Showtime was not in lockdown, the network tells us. Per the network’s official transcript, Nevins said “we’re like five blocks from UCLA, which is in lockdown right now,” and notwe’re just in lockdown right now.” Listening back to our own digital recording additional times, though imperfect audio, Showtime’s transcription sounds correct. TheWrap regrets the error.

Showtime headquarters in Los Angeles went into lockdown mode following reports of an active shooter on the UCLA campus, network president David Nevins told reporters on a press call Wednesday.

“It’s kind of a crazy morning. You may hear sirens, we’re like five blocks from UCLA, we’re just in lockdown right now,” he said. “I’m watching it all go past my window.”

Two people were injured in a possible shooting on the UCLA campus on Wednesday morning, according to police.

Officers in tactical gear were seen entering Boelter Hall, which is part of the school of engineering. In addition, LAPD bomb squad members were also on the scene. Police are advising students to avoid the area.

“Strange morning to be doing this, but here we go again with another shooting,” Nevins said.
