Snookiball Will Drop in New Jersey, Not Times Square

Ball with “Jersey Shore” star inside will drop in N.J.

Great news, bridge and tunnel crowd: This year, the party is coming to you.

Instead of dropping "Jersey Shore" star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi in a ball in Times Square to ring in the apocalypse new year, MTV will drop her in Seaside Heights, N.J., where the show taped its first season.

The rest of "MTV New Year's Bash" will take place, as scheduled, in Times Square. Fellow Jersey Shore stars will help lead the celebration, Paul "Pauly D" DelVecchio will be the house DJ, comedian Whitney Cummings will host, and Florida will perform.

Joining the Times Square party — perhaps as Snooki's proxy — will be "Saturday Night Live" star Bobby Moynihan, who plays the lovable orange misfit on "Weekend Update."

MTV gave no reason for the change of venue, which was reportedly the result of last-minute scheduling issues.
