FX has given a 10-episode series order to the “Sons of Anarchy” spinoff “Mayans MC,” the network announced on Friday.

The drama, which follows JD Pardo’s character EZ Reyes, hails from “Sons of Anarchy” creator Kurt Sutter and Elgin James.

It is gearing up for a late summer, early fall premiere, according to FX Networks and FX Productions CEO John Landgraf, he told the Television Critics Association on Friday.

Set in a post-Jax Teller world, “Mayans MC” sees EZ Reyes, a former golden boy now fresh out of prison, as a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the California-Mexico border who must carve out his new outlaw
identity.

Along with Pardo, Edward James Olmos, Sarah Bolger, Clayton Cardenas, Richard Cabral, Michael Irby, Raoul Trujillo, Antonio Jaramillo and Carla Baratta also star. Director Norberto Barba is also executive producer on the series from Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions.

“Kurt Sutter is a master storyteller and Mayans MC has the raw energy and intensity that are hallmarks of his signature style,” said Nick Grad, President of Original Programming for FX Networks and FX Productions. “Thanks to Kurt, co-creator Elgin James and this amazing cast, Mayans MC builds on the legacy of Sons of Anarchy, taking it in a thrilling new direction that we can’t wait for the world to see.”
