‘Star Trek: Discovery’: CBS All Access Shares First Trailer for Season 3 (Video)

Streaming service also drops new installment of “Short Treks,” starring Ethan Peck and Rebecca Romijn

CBS All Access shared new teasers for its fleet of “Star Trek” series on Saturday, including a first look at the third season of “Star Trek: Discovery.”

The teaser, which debuted at the “Star Trek” panel at New York Comic Con, gives a glimpse at what goes down following the jump in the second season finale. Season 3 is set to premiere in 2020.

Per the announcement, Season 3 “finds the U.S.S. Discovery crew dropping out of the wormhole and into an unknown future far from the home they once knew. Now living in a time filled with uncertainty, the U.S.S. Discovery crew, along with the help of some new friends, must together fight to regain a hopeful future.”

Also during the panel, CBS announced the surprise premiere of a new episode of its “Star Trek” anthology series “Short Treks.”

Written by Michael Chabon and directed by Mark Pellington, the episode, titled “Q&A,” follows Ensign Spock’s (Ethan Peck) first day aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise, which doesn’t go as planned when he and Number One (Rebecca Romijn) are unexpectedly stuck together in a turbo lift.

“Q&A” is currently available to stream on CBS All Access, with the five remaining episodes — “The Trouble With Edward,” “Ask Not,” “The Girl Who Made the Stars,” “Ephraim and Dot” and “Children of Mars” — set to roll out on the second Thursday of each month.
