The clip for the Lucasfilm animated prequel series — which takes places five years before the events of the 1977 film “Star Wars: A New Hope” — doesn’t show Stormtroopers or lightsabers. Instead it focuses on Hera Syndulla (voiced by Vanessa Marshall) and Sabine Wren (Tiya Sircar), rebels who follow the trail of spaceship wreckage into an ominous space hangar.

“Whoever did this must’ve been pretty eager to get what’s inside,” Sabine said.

“We’re not dealing with a ‘who,’” Hera responded. “More like a ‘what.” Then a terrifying space monster appeared and they get sucked into a laser-rifle battle!

Marshall is proud to voice a character as fierce and as inspiring as Hera.

“Hera embodies just the right amount of moxie, fierce intelligence and unending compassion,” Marshall told TheWrap. “Her fearlessness along with her nurturing spirit inspire me. I am honored to voice such a strong female role model, and I hope that her journey and her commitment to standing up for what is right serves as a powerful example for us all.”

“Star Wars Rebels” premieres Friday night with the airing of the “Sparks of Rebellion” television movie, but beginning Oct. 13, the show will settle into a regular Monday night time slot.
