Starz is giving fans a sneak peek into the final Season 1 episodes of its sci-fi/love story “Outlander” ahead of its midseason return.
In the video, sexual tensions mount and swords are drawn in the roughly two-minute tease.
Executive producer Ronald D. Moore described the freshman season’s final three episodes as complex.
“The second half of the season is about fallout and repercussions. We start to see the political aspect of the Jacobites and the Red Coats,” Moore said with caution.
In one scene, Scottish warrior Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) eyes a man and warns, “These are dangerous times.”
Since debuting last August, the series has followed World War II nurse Claire (Caitriona Balfe) who is transported to 18th-Century Scotland. She spends a majority of the season trying to find her way home until she falls in love with and marries Fraser, who’s at odds with the devious Jack Randall (Tobias MacKenzie).
“Randall is not done with our couple, and it’s going to be dark,” Moore said.
“You’re really going to love seeing what it means for the two of them to stay together, rather than get together,” Balfe added.
The cast and crew also teased the return of Jamie’s sister Jenny (Laura Donnelly) and Geillis Duncan (Lotte Verbeek).
“Outlander’ premiered on Aug. 9 to over five million viewers across several platforms. The show was renewed for a second season on Aug. 15, TheWrap previously reported. Season 2 will be based on “Dragonfly in Amber,” the second in Diana Gabaldon‘s bestselling eight-book series.
“Outlander” returns Saturday, April 4 at 9 p.m.
