Sundance 2016: ESPN’s ’30 for 30′ O.J. Miniseries, Spike Lee’s Michael Jackson Doc Set Party Plans

ESPN, Spike Lee‘s Michael Jackson documentary for Showtime, Creative Coalition, and a Western from an Eastwood family member are among the projects that have already set their off-screen Sundance party plans.

All will be toasting to screening success (before or after premieres) at the Kia Supper Suite, which this year takes over the main floors of Cisero’s on Main St., TheWrap’s Party Report event partner in Park City, Utah.

None may be more ready to drink than those emerging from a seven-hour plus screening of the entirety of ESPN’s first “30 for 30” documentary miniseries: “OJ: Made in America.” There will be a lunch break in the middle for those spending the entire day on Friday, Jan. 22 for a deep dive on director Ezra Edelman’s event programming.

Spike Lee is back at Sundance, with a documentary tracing Michael Jackson’s evolution from Motown to the career reorienting 1979 album “Off the Wall.” (This project spawned ’70s bangers “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough” and “Rock With You,” years before the “Thriller”-era cemented the late Jackson as the King of  Pop.)

Francesca Eastwood follows in her father Clint Eastwood’s footprints starring in a “blood-soaked” and “grimy” Western with Chad Michael Murray (“Outlaws and Angels”) screening in the opening days of the festival. Both the outlaws and the angels will decamp in the familiar Sundance party parlor.

“Yoga Hosers” (directed and written by Kevin Smith, starring Lily-Rose Depp, Johnny Depp, and Justin Long), “Christine” (Rebecca Hall, Michael C. Hall) and “Little Men” (Greg Kinnear) are also set in A-List Communications’ Park City edition of the traveling film dinner series.

The Sundance Film Festival runs from Jan. 21-31 in Park City, Utah.

TheWrap’s Party Report at Sundance is presented by the vehicles that will be shuttling filmmakers and to casts to special events, the 2016 Kia Sorento CUV. Among those special events are The Party Report’s party pal and HQ, the Kia Supper Suite by The Church Key.
