Taylor Kitsch Promises Salvation in First Trailer for Paramount Network’s ‘Waco’ (Video)

Six-part miniseries about cult leader David Koresh premieres in January

Taylor Kitsch stars as preacher and cult leader David Koresh in the first trailer for Paramount Network’s “Waco” miniseries.

The minute-and-a-half-long clip gives short glimpses at how the story of the deadly 1993 FBI raid of Koresh’s compound will play out on the series, accompanied by Kitsch’s ominous voiceover promising salvation for his followers.

The 51-day standoff ended in the deaths of 76 men, women and children, including Koresh himself.

The cast also includes Michael Shannon, John Leguizamo, Andrea Riseborough, Rory Culkin, Melissa Benoist, Paul Sparks, Shea Whigham, Camryn Manheim and Julia Garner. “Waco” is executive produced by Weinstein Television, written by John Erick Dowdle and Drew Dowdle and directed by John Erick Dowdle.

“Waco” is based on two biographies: “A Place Called Waco” by Branch Davidian survivor David Thibodeau and “Stalling for Time: My Life as an FBI Hostage Negotiator,” written by the FBI’s Head of Crisis Negotiation Unit Gary Noesner.

“Waco” will premiere in January on Paramount Network.
