Taylor Swift isn’t waiting for politicians to fix the student loan issue — she took it into her own hands this week by helping out one of her most loyal fans.

In a video exploding on YouTube, superfan Rebekah Bortnicker opens a package sent to her by Swift containing a handwritten letter of appreciation, Polaroid pictures of her paintings and a check for $1,989 toward the 25-year-old’s student loans.

“Rebekah now you’re $1,989 dollars closer to paying those student loans,” Bortnicker read from Swift’s letter, crying uncontrollably.

“I have nothing to say,” she replied to the woman filming her, taken aback by the gesture. “Thank you so much, I can’t even describe what I’m feeling right now — this is crazy. Oh my god, I love you.”

The generous gesture came after the super fan made a video compilation of best Swift moments using a “Friends” theme on her Tumblr page; Swift responded with an emoticon.

It comes not long after Swift, along with Beyonce and Chris Pratt, were named the most charitable stars of 2014.

DoSomething.org‘s annual Celebs Gone Good ranking declared the “1989” singer to be the kindest star of the year after she donated all proceeds from the sale of her single “Welcome to New York” to New York City Public Schools. It was Swift’s third year taking top honors.
