Taylor Swift will be the headline act during ABC’s annual New Year’s Eve celebration. The network promises the biggest live music celebration in the history of “Dick Clark‘s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” featuring five-and-a-half hours of music with over 38 performances.
The music industry’s current it-girl, who has been on a whirlwind promotional tour for her upcoming album “1989” — including a recent performance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” that shut down Hollywood Blvd. — will take to the stage in New York’s Times Square in front of an estimated 1 million fans.

As usual, Ryan Seacrest will host the annual event, which will offer bicoastal coverage as well as reports on New Year’s celebrations from around the world.
“Each year ‘New Year’s Rockin’ Eve’ continues its iconic legacy by delivering incredible performances from the year’s hottest artists, and this year is no exception,” said Seacrest, who is also an executive producer on the show. “We already have secured an unprecedented number of music acts, culminating with a Times Square performance by Taylor, the biggest superstar in music today.”

Additional musical acts scheduled to perform have not yet been announced.
“Dick Clark‘s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest” will broadcast on Wednesday, Dec. 31 on ABC.
