Ratings: ‘The Good Doctor’ Season 6 Premiere Has a Steady Return on ABC

The episode managed to stay on par with its Season 5 average, landing a 0.4 rating and 3.4 million total viewers

ABC’s “The Good Doctor” returned on Monday night to a fairly steady performance in the key advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic, as well as in total viewers. The Season 6 premiere episode drew a 0.4 in the demo and 3.4 million total viewers — which is on par with its Season 5 average.

Prior to that, ABC’s “Bachelor in Paradise” made its Monday fall premiere after debuting last Tuesday (episodes will air every Monday and Tuesday from here on out). However, Monday night’s 0.6 demo rating and 2.2 million viewers was down considerably from last week, when it premiered to a 0.7 and 2.6 million total viewers.

NBC won the ratings crown on Monday, with “The Voice” and “Quantum Leap” averaging a 0.6 in the key demo. In terms of total viewers, CBS claimed victory with an average 5.7 million people tuning in.

Here’s how primetime went down across the major broadcasters:

NBC was first in ratings with an average 0.6 rating in the key demo, while CBS was first in total viewers with an average of 5.7 million, according to official live + same day Nielsen data. 

ABC and Fox tied for second in ratings with an average 0.5 in the demo. NBC was second in total viewers with an average 5.2 million, and Fox was third with 3.7 million.

On NBC, “The Voice” kicked things off with a 0.7 demo rating and 6.6 million total viewers at 8 p.m. At 10, “Quantum Leap” managed a 0.4 demo rating and 2.6 million total viewers.

As for Fox, “9-1-1” aired to a 0.6 demo rating and 5 million total viewers at 8 p.m. At 9, “The Cleaning Lady” swept in a 0.4 demo rating and 2.3 million total viewers.

CBS was fourth in ratings with a 0.4 in the demo, and ABC was fourth in total viewers with an average 2.6 million.

On CBS, “The Neighborhood” drew a 0.5 demo rating and 5.5 million total viewers at 8 p.m. “Bob Hearts Abishola” was next, garnering a 0.4 demo rating and 5.1 million total viewers at 8:30. At 9, “NCIS” mustered a 0.4 demo rating and 6.9 million total viewers, and “NCIS: Hawai’i” ended the night with a 0.3 demo rating and 4.9 million total viewers at 10.

ABC began the night with the second episode of “Bachelor in Paradise,” which courted a 0.6 demo rating and 2.2 million total viewers at 8 p.m. At 10, the premiere of “The Good Doctor” earned a 0.4 demo rating and 3.5 million total viewers.

The CW was fifth in ratings with an average 0.0 in the demo and in total viewers with an average of 240,000. Reruns of “Mysteries Decoded” aired throughout primetime. The first episode, which aired at 8, got a 0.0 in the demo and 301,000 total viewers. The second took home a 0.0 and 180,000 total viewers at 9.

Among the Spanish-language networks, Univision was first with a 0.4 in the demo and 1.3 million total viewers across primetime. “La Herencia, Un Legado de Amor” received a 0.4 demo rating and 1.4 million total viewers at 8 p.m. “Los ricos también lloran,” which aired from 9 to 11, got a 0.3 in the demo and 1.2 million total viewers.

Telemundo came in second, averaging a 0.2 demo rating and 857,000 total viewers. “Éxatlon,” which aired from 7 to 9, managed a 0.2 demo rating and 953,000 total viewers. “Fuego del Destino” aired to a 0.2 demo rating and 777,000 total viewers from 9 to 10. “Infiel: Historia de un Engaño” closed out the night with a 0.2 demo rating and 863,000 total viewers from 10 to 11.
