‘The Hills: New Beginnings’: Watch the Revamped Opening Credits for MTV Revival (Video)

Now with Mischa Barton and an “Unwritten” remix from Natasha Bedingfield

MTV unveiled the new theme song for its revival of “The Hills” during the MTV Movie & TV Awards on Monday.

The opening credits sequence for “The Hills: New Beginnings,” which will see much of the hit reality show’s original cast reconvene nearly a decade later, is scored to a remixed version of the original theme song, “Unwritten” by Natasha Bedingfield.

Bedingfield teamed up with songwriter and producer Linda Perry to record the updated version, and MTV shared a bit of the process in a behind-the-scenes video (watch below).

“I wanted to re-sing [the vocals],” Bedinfield says in the clip. “I wanted to take where I’m at now, kind of give it that new spin.”

“The Hills: New Beginnings” will see Brandon Thomas Lee and “The OC’s” Mischa Barton join original cast members Audrina Patridge, Brody Jenner, Frankie Delgado, Heidi Pratt, Jason Wahler, Justin “Bobby” Brescia, Spencer Pratt, Stephanie Pratt and Whitney Port for the return of the iconic series.

Other newcomers confirmed for the series include Jenner, Delgado and Wahler’s wives, Kaitlynn Carter, Jennifer Delgado and Ashley Wahler, respectively.

Original stars Lauren “L.C.” Conrad and Kristen Cavallari are not expected to take part in the new series, with Cavallari the subject of her own E! reality series “Very Cavallari,” which recently completed its second season.

A spinoff of “Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County” following Conrad’s move to Los Angeles, “The Hills” completed its original run in 2010. In its fourth season it birthed its own spinoff “The City,” which was led by Port and ran for two seasons.

“The Hills: New Beginnings” premieres Monday, June 24 on MTV.
