‘The Muppets’ Gets Additional Episode Order From ABC

Freshman comedy series featuring Jim Henson favorites will air a total of 16 episodes

ABC has given a full-season order to freshman comedy “The Muppets,” the network announced Thursday.

The latest TV adaptation of the Jim Henson franchise, following Kermit the Frog and the rest of the Muppet gang as they produce late-night talk show “Up Late with Miss Piggy,” will air a total of 16 episodes.

Bill Prady and Bob Kushell co-created the series and serve as executive producers. Randall Einhorn, Bill Barretta, Debbie McClellan and Kyle Laughlin also executive produce. The series is produced by ABC Studios and The Muppets Studio.

The series’ most recent outing drew a 1.4 rating among adults 18-49 and 4.3 million total viewers.

“The Muppets” joins “Quantico” and “Dr. Ken” as new ABC series to receive a full-season pick-up from the network. Sunday drama “Blood & Oil” previously had its episode order reduced from 13 episodes to 10.

“The Muppets” airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
