‘The View’: Whoopi Goldberg Advocates for Abortion Rights With ‘Handmaid’s Tale’ Halloween Costume (Video)

The host wore a cloak reading “my body, my morals, my life, my choice”

“The View” host Whoopi Goldberg sent a pretty strong message on Monday, using her Halloween costume for the show to advocate for abortion rights.

The theme of this year’s holiday episode was “iconic TV characters,” with each host dressing up as a character they love from throughout the decades. Sunny Hostin dressed as the queen from “Bridgerton,” Alyssa Farah Griffin showed up as Carrie Bradshaw from “Sex and the City,” host Joy Behar appeared as Peggy Bundy from “Married With Children,” Ana Navarro dressed as Charo from “The Love Boat” and Sara Haines arrived as Catherine O’Hara’s character Moira Rose from “Schitt’s Creek.”

To round out the group, Goldberg dressed as June Osborne from “The Handmaids Tale.” Emblazoned on the back of her red cloak was a series of phrases: “My body, My morals, My life, My Choice, Not Yours.”

Though Goldberg did not go into detail about her costume choice at the start of the show like her fellow co-hosts did, she has long been outspoken about a woman’s right to choose what’s best for her and her body.

Earlier this month, Goldberg torched conservative host Dana Loesch for saying that “skanks” get abortions amid the scandal surrounding Herschel Walker.

“First of all, ma’am, there’s a lot of women who find themselves in the position of having to have an abortion. How dare you call them skanks,” Golberg said. “And I believe the whole point is that Walker is saying, ‘I believe that this is murder, I believe that — ‘ and has paid, supposedly, for women to have abortions. That’s the point. If we’re gonna have these discussions, please stick to them, and not go off calling people names.”

Earlier this summer, the host said that if travel bans start to come into play, women simply won’t be giving up their true reasons for traveling anywhere ever, out of fear.

“Again, I always thought that the conservatives and Republicans always thought, you know, we have to do this but we don’t want you in our business. So, OK, get out of my uterus,” she said. “Get me to my doctor because regardless of what’s happening in my body, you don’t know. You don’t know. And so you don’t know who’s going to get an abortion, because we’re not telling you!”
