‘The View’s’ Raven-Symone Boycotts Donald Trump: ‘I’m Never Talking About Him Again’ (Video)
”The more energy we give that man, the less we hear from the people that actually need to be running the country,“ co-host says, sitting out as others discuss the candidate
Raven-Symoné refused to talk about Donald Trump during the Hot Topics segment on Thursday’s episode of “The View,” saying that she’s done giving the presidential candidate any more attention.
“I’m boycotting Trump,” the co-host said. “I’m never talking about him again.”
The panel had been discussing a recent People magazine interview with Trump and his wife, Melania, when the former Disney Channel star refused to participate in the conversation.
“The more energy we give that man, the less we hear from the people that actually need to be running the country,” she said, earning awkward looks from Michelle Collins and moderator Whoopi Goldberg.
Though Raven-Symoné did in fact sit out the rest of the segment, her co-hosts continued to discuss Melania’s opinions regarding immigration, with Paula Faris noting that Trump’s wife offers an interesting immigration perspective, having come to America from Yugoslavia legally.
“If you have done it the right way, you do kind of begrudge those who haven’t,” Faris said, referencing the presidential candidate’s inflammatory comments regarding immigrants.
Comedian Michelle Collins seized the opportunity to joke about the couple’s relationship and express skepticism of their qualifications for the White House.
“You know, her father was actually a car dealer, which kind of explains why she fell for Trump to begin with. He’s kind of got a car salesman thing going on,” Collins said. “But I can’t picture her as First Lady for some reason.”
