Another “Walking Dead” alum will crossover onto the zombie prequel “Fear the Walking Dead” next season.

Austin Amelio will reprise his role as Dwight in the “Fear’s” upcoming fifth season, set to debut sometime this year, an individual familiar with the situation confirmed to TheWrap. The scale of Amelio’s role remains unclear, but the possibility remains that he could follow in the footsteps of former “Walking Dead” actor Lennie James and take on a major presence on the prequel.

After James, Amelio is only the second actor from “The Walking Dead” to make the jump to “Fear the Walking Dead.”

Given that “The Walking Dead” recently made several time jumps extending the gap between the two shows’ timelines to nearly a decade, Amelio was an obvious candidate to move over. His character was banished from Alexandria at the end of last season and hasn’t been seen since, allowing him to crossover without complicating the show’s continuity.

Following the deaths of the characters played by original series stars Kim Dickens and Frank Dillane in Season 4 of “Fear the Walking Dead,” Amelio joins a cast which includes James, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Colman Domingo and Danay Garcia, as well as recent newcomers Alexa Nisenson, Garret Dillahunt, Maggie Grace and Jenna Elfman.
